Railcar Repair Technician – Fort Saskatchewan, AB

Procor Limited is at the forefront of managing Canada's largest private tank car lease fleet, along with an extensive repair network nationwide. Our fleet comprises over 31,000 specialized tank and freight cars, supported by 27 repair facilities serving diverse sectors including petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers, and food industries.

We are currently in search of a reliable Senior Railcar Helper for our repair facility. This role is perfect for skilled individuals seeking a stable position within a company that provides avenues for professional advancement.

Position Overview:

  • Executing repairs on railcars, including cutting and welding (SMAW) on rail bodies, tanks, hoppers, and various components
  • Utilizing Air Arc Gouging techniques
  • Maintaining documentation of completed railcar repairs in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Conducting repairs on Hopper and Tank railcars, which includes interior linings, mechanical repairs, coupler servicing, loading valve replacements, and airbrake testing
  • Performing inspections of incoming railcars as necessary
  • Adhering to repair orders and established procedures
  • Completing additional assigned tasks
  • Working on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule

Qualifications:

  • Proficient written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with safe operation of tools and equipment
  • Capability to interpret work orders, safety data sheets, and complete necessary documentation
  • Previous experience in railcar repair or a related field; familiarity with AAR standards is advantageous
  • Commitment to safety standards and regulations
  • Comfortable working in a variety of environmental conditions
  • WHMIS training and experience handling hazardous materials
  • Physically capable of climbing, stooping, bending, and carrying tools
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality
  • Excellent time management and teamwork skills
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
