Position Overview
The Project Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing significant technical or business process initiatives, ensuring that all cost, schedule, scope, and deliverable requirements are achieved. This position involves planning, leading, monitoring, and coordinating activities related to system implementations and upgrades, as well as business process projects. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for all phases of assigned projects, implementing customer-focused qualitative project management practices, processes, methodologies, and metrics.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role does not entail direct supervisory responsibilities over other personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Define project parameters, establish expected outcomes, and track timelines. Manage reports detailing project status and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Facilitate team efforts to define and manage project scope, develop roadmaps, prioritize objectives, and deliver features. Ensure identification and coordination of dependencies among related efforts.
- Coordinate with technology and other vendors, holding them accountable for fulfilling contractual obligations.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, advising management on project status and significant trends or changes in investment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and laws related to project scope.
- Provide clear and accurate reporting to stakeholders; create presentations tailored to the audience.
- Negotiate resources for project allocation across business and IT functions.
- Facilitate meetings focused on problem-solving and decision-making to address issues and implementation strategies, encouraging diverse perspectives.
- May oversee projects and programs that span multiple departments or regions within the organization.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate potential issues and risks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in project management with a strong emphasis on planning.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and/or change management is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Mining or Energy sectors is a plus.
Certifications
- Project Management training and certification is preferred (e.g., PMI, certified Agile practitioner).
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to manage large project teams effectively.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.

- Negotiation expertise.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (ability to simplify complex issues for a business audience).

- Ability to manage resources both directly and through matrix management.
Working Conditions
- Standard office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, with potential travel up to 25%.
Physical Demands
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Involves constant data input for extended periods without leaving the work area. Occasionally requires lifting files or papers weighing up to 30 pounds.
