Position Overview:

Are you a certified Mountain Biking Coach? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to become part of our Sports School this summer as Trail Cycling Instructors & Guides. In this role, you will educate cyclists of varying skill levels on the essential techniques to safely navigate and enjoy the trails. You will guide participants through diverse terrains, helping them enhance their confidence and skills on the bike.

Compensation Details:

$26.25 per hour

Physical Requirements:

Medium physical demands, involving the handling of loads between 10 and 20 kg, primarily in an outdoor environment.

This position necessitates physical presence at the designated location.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver exceptional mountain biking experiences to both groups and individual guests, ensuring all programs are conducted safely and enjoyably. Complete all required daily administrative tasks. Conduct appropriate risk assessments for hazards, features, and trail selections. Evaluate participants' skill levels and design suitable activities. Adhere to all company operating procedures and safety protocols. Provide basic first aid and assist Patrol and Mountain Operations as necessary. Operate in accordance with the code of conduct and values of Sun Peaks Resort LLP. Perform additional duties to support the successful operation of the department, including collaboration with other departments and involvement in special promotions, orientations, and training programs. Off-bike responsibilities may be assigned based on traffic needs and could include mechanical, administrative, and retail tasks.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Current First Aid certification recognized by the province of British Columbia. Must be 17 years of age or older. Mountain Bike Instructor Certification from a nationally recognized organization. Prior experience in mountain biking (racing, guiding, instruction). Physically capable of engaging in up to 6 hours of downhill biking in mountain conditions, up to 6 days a week. Ability to safely demonstrate riding techniques for managing descents and ascents over various terrain conditions and obstacles. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities. Proficiency in a second language is advantageous. Familiarity with Sun Peaks Resort bike trails. Capability to perform basic bike repairs in the field.
