The Government of Alberta is offering a remarkable position for a skilled lawyer specializing in labour and employment law to become part of their vibrant team.

The duties associated with this role encompass:

  • Delivering comprehensive legal guidance and services concerning a wide range of labour and employment issues, including disciplinary actions, terminations, interchanges, interpretation of collective agreements, human rights, workplace investigations, employment contracts, challenges during work stoppages, occupational health and safety, employment standards, labour relations, and the enforcement of relevant legislation.
  • Collaborating with clients to formulate and execute legislative initiatives.
  • Partnering with clients to devise proactive approaches for navigating intricate workplace challenges.
  • Composing and conveying clear, concise, and precise legal opinions.
  • Advising on policies, procedures, and organizational programs.
  • Drafting employment agreements and other legal contracts.
  • Offering information, support, and guidance to external legal representatives acting on behalf of the organization.
  • Conducting research, monitoring, analyzing, and communicating legal developments that may affect the organization; and
  • Representing the organization before external adjudicators, including arbitrators, umpires, the Human Rights Commission, and the Labour Relations Board.
