AVI Health and Community Services is seeking Addiction Medicine and Family Practice Physicians to join our multi-disciplinary team at the AVI Nanaimo Community Health Centre.

We are committed to providing low-barrier, trauma-informed healthcare to our community members, and we are looking for physicians who share our passion for delivering high-quality care.

As a member of our team, you will work collaboratively with nurses, care coordinators, system navigators, support workers, educators, peer support workers, and counsellors to provide wrap-around supports and holistic care to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and provision of Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT)
  • Assessment and prescribing of witnessed fentanyl options and injectable OAT for participants of AVI's Prescribed Alternatives program
  • Primary care for People living with HIV
  • Screening and Assessment of STIs and viral blood-borne illnesses
  • Assessment and prescribing of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for patients to manage risk of HIV
  • Other primary care for acute and chronic medical conditions
Requirements:
  • CCFP
  • CPSBC
  • ISAM, ABAM, or CCFP CAC (AM) certification, or AM Fellowship

  • Competitive hourly rate of $195
  • Flexible scheduling with 4 or 8 hour shifts Monday-Sunday
