Position Overview:

As a key member of the management team at Accoravillage, the Microbiology Operations Supervisor will oversee the analytical functions of the microbiology laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily microbiology operations, including production oversight, staff management, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to conduct interviews, onboard new staff, and handle disciplinary actions or performance improvement plans as necessary.
  • Effectively oversee human resources within the department, focusing on recruitment, performance evaluation, employee relations, and promotions.
  • Coordinate and deliver training sessions for team members as required.
  • Participate in annual performance evaluations alongside the Manager.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and consumables to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Adhere to ALS quality management system (QMS) standards for the department.
  • Conduct thorough data reviews, interpretations, and processing.
  • Facilitate regular team discussions regarding safety, quality, process modifications, and corporate communications.
  • Proactively assess procedures and processes, providing insights on their quality and reliability.
  • Utilize established methods in accordance with procedures and schedules, ensuring analytical integrity.
  • Comply with safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • A degree in Microbiology or a related discipline.
  • Experience with ISO/IEC 17025 or similar international laboratory standards.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Excel and MS Word.
Work Environment:

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform general office tasks, including occasional sedentary duties. Note that the position requires flexibility for day, afternoon, and night shifts, including weekends.
