ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Mobile Maintenance team, reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor.

The Detour Lake operation is the largest gold-producing mine in Canada, boasting significant gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open-pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Timmins. The mine has a projected lifespan of around 22 years, with an average annual gold production of 659,000 ounces.

The Heavy Duty Mechanic will be tasked with ensuring the proper maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, as well as conducting preventative maintenance and operational safety inspections.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Conducting regular servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs on all relevant mobile equipment;
  • Utilizing computerized and other diagnostic tools to assess the extent of necessary repairs;
  • Repairing hydraulic, powertrain, and electrical systems;
  • Employing various tools, including hydraulic power units, torque wrenches, and hoists;
  • Identifying and reporting parts requirements and supplies as needed;
  • Preparing electronic service reports and documentation accurately and promptly;
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED;
  • Ontario Provincial or Inter-Provincial Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification is considered an asset;
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a fast-paced production setting;
  • Experience with ultra-class mining equipment, particularly Caterpillar shovels and trucks, as well as Epiroc drills;
  • Proficiency in computer systems and familiarity with CAT ET & SIS Web;
  • A focused and self-motivated approach, along with strong organizational and time management skills.
