WSP Canada is seeking a dedicated Senior Project Planner to join our Major Projects division. Reporting directly to the Project Controls Manager, the Senior Project Planner will assist the project manager in areas such as planning, scheduling, change management, project oversight, and reporting on project controls. What You Will Do:
  • Oversee comprehensive project planning throughout the entire project lifecycle for EP/EPCM/EPC projects.
  • Facilitate planning sessions with project teams to establish a Performance Measurement Baseline.
  • Adjust and evaluate resource allocation and leveling.
  • Develop various levels of project schedules and support business development during proposal phases.
  • Conduct critical path analysis to identify deliverables with schedule flexibility.
  • Manage client expectations and mentor team members in effective negotiation techniques.
  • Collaborate with clients to create integrated EPC/client schedules.
  • Identify and document schedule scenarios that may impact project scope.
  • Enhance change management procedures.
  • Provide technical support and collaborate with Project Managers to ensure satisfactory development of project schedule scenarios.
  • Define Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and establish master schedule baselines for engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and consistent project inputs and outputs.
  • Monitor project evolution to prevent unforeseen costs and schedule impacts.
  • Create staffing plans to ensure necessary resources are available for both approved and proposed work.
  • Assess the impact of project trends on costs and schedules, ensuring comprehensive inclusion of all cost categories.
  • Document and maintain a risk register for project-related risks.
What You Bring:
  • A minimum of 10 years of project planning experience, with at least 5 to 7 years as a Project Planner/Scheduler in sectors such as Mining, Oil & Gas, Heavy Industrial, or Power.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 at an advanced level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a flexible approach to work.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is a strong asset.
