The role of the Maintenance Manager involves leading a skilled maintenance team of 40 professionals, including tradespeople and support staff. This team is tasked with the upkeep of all machinery, facilities, and grounds at our manufacturing site. The Maintenance Manager will focus on ensuring safety within the department, managing the maintenance budget, and advancing the existing AC&R program to achieve optimal uptime for our production lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a clear direction for the maintenance team to foster a zero-incident safety culture.
  • Assist in the development and management of budgets for maintenance supplies and labor.
  • Utilize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to enhance asset longevity and reliability.
  • Encourage the application of failure analysis techniques to minimize equipment downtime and achieve industry-leading uptime.
  • Oversee the management of the MRO storeroom.
  • Lead multiple capital projects related to safety, asset replacement, and productivity enhancements, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and operational methodologies.
  • Inspire and guide team performance through effective goal-setting and performance evaluations.
  • Identify requirements for significant equipment repairs and replacements, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, environmental responsibility, and safety improvements.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit and retain top maintenance talent, ensuring consistent application of HR policies.
  • Facilitate training and lead initiatives for team-based process and equipment enhancements.
  • Work closely with Production and Process Departments to coordinate predictive maintenance efforts, reduce downtime, and provide updates on production equipment status.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience as a Journeyman Electrician or Millwright.
  • A minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven managerial skills, including responsibility for performance management, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance processes and systems within a manufacturing context.
  • Ability to develop and adhere to effective work processes and systems.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of facilitating sustainable change.
  • Demonstrated project management proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and address safety and process-related requests effectively.
  • Proven analytical skills and a commitment to quality improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with SAP maintenance management systems is preferred.
  • Willingness to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
