Job Summary

This is a skilled position that requires the safe operation of various heavy equipment used in highway maintenance work. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing labor-intensive duties, ensuring that the highway maintenance program is delivered according to contract specifications.

Working Environment and Conditions

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a 24/7 operation environment, with potential for long hours, shift work, and on-call duties. They will be required to work in various weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat, and will need to be prepared to deal with traffic on poor road conditions and emergencies on highways.

Key Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment, including snowplows, and perform labor-intensive duties as required.
Inspect, maintain, and operate equipment to company standards.
Ensure vehicles, equipment, facilities, yard, and keys are always secured as per company standards and policy.
Complete hazard assessments and documentation as required.
Respond to emergency situations, including weather-related incidents, wildlife, and accidents.

Requirements

Valid Class 1 (preferred) or Class 3 driver's license with air endorsement.
Clean and valid driver's abstract.
Experience in snowplow operation - minimum 50 hours behind the wheel.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
Valid Standard First Aid Certificate (preferred).
