Position Overview

This position entails the comprehensive leadership and management of a multifaceted engineering and infrastructure team, responsible for overseeing the administration, performance, and supervision of various engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  11. Engineering Issue Resolution: Ensure prompt resolution of engineering concerns and challenges.
  12. Municipal Objectives: Contribute to the establishment and achievement of municipal objectives.
  13. Flood Management: Oversee flood mitigation projects and implement relevant frameworks.
  14. Emergency Response Planning: Develop and execute Flood Rapid Response Plans during significant weather events.
  15. Asset Management Support: Assist in asset management planning, infrastructure assessment, renewal, and prioritization.
  16. Traffic Safety Initiatives: Coordinate traffic calming measures, speed reduction strategies, and safety-related initiatives.
  17. Technical Review: Provide technical insights on traffic studies and operational challenges.
Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Transportation Engineering from an accredited institution.
  2. 5+ years as a licensed Professional Civil Engineer (eligible for licensure in Ontario).
  3. 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in municipal public works, covering urban, semi-urban, and rural settings, including plan review, design, and approval of municipal services and transportation engineering.
  4. 5+ years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  5. Proven time management and organizational skills with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.
  6. Demonstrated integrity and adherence to professional standards, regulations, and corporate policies.
  7. Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
  8. Sound judgment, initiative, and creativity in evaluating engineering solutions.
  9. Practical knowledge of municipal policies, procedures, and processes.
  10. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and relevant civil engineering design and modeling software.
  11. Familiarity with key legislation including the Environmental Assessment Act and Municipal Act.
  12. Ability to assess options within legislative frameworks and municipal policies.
  13. Thorough understanding of municipal development standards and planning processes.
  14. Knowledge of related legislation such as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and TAC Design manuals.
