Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risk, and making loan eligibility decisions. You will also ensure that all documentation is compliant with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Loan Analysis and Risk Evaluation
    • Review and underwrite customer loans within prescribed authority level, escalating unusual or complex cases to leadership where appropriate
    • Review due diligence documents submitted to validate the borrower's willingness and ability to repay the loan
    • Analyze loan risk and request additional information as necessary
  • Loan Eligibility and Approval
    • Make loan eligibility decisions and approve or reject applications
    • Review and specify loan conditions as necessary
  • Compliance and Documentation
    • Ensure deals are underwritten and adhere to internal policy, procedures, guidelines, insurer programs, and regulatory requirements
    • Document and efficiently communicate reasons for the approval/rejection of loans
  • Relationship Management
    • Manage the relationship with submitting agent/broker source
    • Set the pricing and manage the profitability of each transaction
  • AML and Fraud Risk Management
    • Identify and assess AML and fraud risks
  • Team Collaboration and Development
    • Mentor team members and share best practices
    • Handle complex deals and support team with escalated issues

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience underwriting in residential originations
  • Most recent role being a senior underwriter, or an underwriter with a higher authority level and scope of work
