The City of Prince George is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our Roads & Fleet team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our heavy-duty fleet and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty equipment, including overhauling, repairing, and servicing of engines, transmissions, and other critical systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system faults or malfunctions using electronic and computerized testing equipment.
  • Exercise independence of judgment and action in completing assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operations and high-quality workmanship.

Requirements:

  • Valid BC or Inter-Provincial Heavy Duty Equipment Technician qualification (formerly known as Heavy Duty Mechanic) or a Certified Truck and Transport Mechanic qualification.
  • Minimum of five years' current experience working as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, including recent experience working with electronic and computer data analysis for trouble shooting, tune-ups, and adjustments.
  • Valid, full privilege Class 3 driver's license with airbrake endorsement.
  • Commitment to providing quality customer service and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
