Position Overview:
The Senior Automation Technician operates within a collaborative team to enhance equipment efficiency and performance, leveraging industrial, electrical, and mechanical expertise. This role is pivotal in ensuring safety, quality, and reliability while driving continuous improvement for cutting-edge Order Storage and Retrieval systems and other essential equipment.
The Senior Technician applies extensive knowledge in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems, including working with various voltage systems.
As a fully qualified professional, the Senior Technician is expected to work independently with minimal oversight, resolving complex issues with sound judgment and adhering to established policies. This role also involves contributing to the development of operational procedures and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics and code specifications for industrial equipment installations.
- Maintaining comprehensive records of equipment tests, maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
- Adhering to established testing, maintenance, and installation protocols for equipment.
- Proposing and implementing enhancements to mechanical systems and procedures.
- Conducting routine tests on electrical and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical and electromechanical equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Executing preventative maintenance programs to identify potential hazards and necessary repairs.
- Diagnosing and rectifying issues in low voltage electrical and mechanical systems using technical manuals and diagnostic tools.
- Providing technical assistance to colleagues during shifts.
General Duties:
- Completing miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Sr. Facility Maintenance Manager.
- Assisting with inventory audits to ensure availability of spare parts.
- Reporting any safety hazards or equipment defects to management.
- Monitoring equipment condition to assess operational safety.
- Coordinating maintenance activities with affected departments.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhering to company health and safety policies.
- Working autonomously with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with barcode scanners, vision systems, and other automation technologies.
- Proficiency in working with robotic systems, conveyors, and HVAC systems.
- Journeyman Certified Electrician (442A or 309A) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Experience in troubleshooting PLC-based machinery and control systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to respond to emergency call-ins or overtime as needed.
Working Environment:
- Night shift: Sunday to Thursday, 8:30 PM – 5:00 AM.
- Professional conduct is expected at all times.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and performing various physical tasks.
