Opportunity:
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to contribute to our dynamic and innovative consulting practice in a permanent full-time capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee civil engineering projects, including the creation, management, and preparation of engineering designs, studies, and reports for land development and municipal infrastructure.
- Facilitate the preparation of necessary documentation for approvals, including development and construction cost estimates, tender documents, and contracts, while coordinating with team members to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Evaluate the feasibility of proposals by engaging with team members and selecting appropriate proposal writers.
- Provide non-technical support and guidance to team members.
- Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and productivity across the team.
- Manage client relationships and project performance to ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Develop new business opportunities and foster strategic relationships with key clients and partners.
- Administer construction contracts for high-value projects.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective operations.
- Complete required safety documentation for projects and ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate team members, contributing expertise to design and construction administration.
- Participate in weekly and monthly reporting and design meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Occasional travel within the region may be necessary.
Qualifications:
- BSc degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution with a minimum of 12 years of relevant Canadian experience.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
- Proficiency in designing municipal civil infrastructure, including sites, roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and grading.
- Demonstrated success in leading project teams of engineers and technologists.
- Strong technical writing skills for reports and proposals.
- Excellent project management capabilities, with preference for candidates holding PMP certification.
- Solid contract administration skills, with preference for those with MMCD CCA certification.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage deadlines with exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to achieving success for the firm and clients.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, coupled with excellent time management abilities.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with software for designing roads, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
- Experience in preparing stormwater management plans, master drainage plans, and watershed plans.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, piping systems, and pumping systems.
- Understanding of environmental permitting and regulations.
- Familiarity with relevant professional practice guidelines.
