Your Opportunity:

The Rockyview General Hospital Eye Clinic is a dynamic, high-volume ambulatory clinic providing comprehensive ophthalmic services to over 33,000 patients annually. The clinic offers a range of subspecialties, including comprehensive, neuro-ophthalmology, oncology, glaucoma, retina, low vision, and adult strabismus, as well as an urgent eye clinic operating 365 days a year. To support these subspecialties, the clinic offers advanced diagnostic testing, including ultrasound, photography, visual fields, and electrophysiology.

Job Summary:

As an Ophthalmic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures and evaluations according to the clinic's standard procedures. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including ophthalmic technical personnel, administrative staff, nurses, and physicians. The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of ophthalmic diseases and be able to identify potential risks to patients, taking necessary steps to ensure patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic procedures and evaluations according to clinic protocols
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to patient safety
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in multi-tasking, prioritization, stress tolerance, and resiliency
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Active or eligible certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing electrodiagnostic testing within the past 6 months
  • Experience performing ocular ultrasound within the past 6 months
  • Experience with various field tests, including Goldmann, Octopus, and Humphrey visual fields
