About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Librarian 1 to join our team at the District of North Vancouver. As a key member of our Adult Services team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and assessing programs for adults, engaging with community partners, and providing information services and digital support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop programs for adults based on strategic priorities
- Build relationships with community agency partners and support their needs
- Maintain branch collections under the direction of the Collection Services and Evaluation Librarian
- Provide reference and reader's advisory services for all ages, helping patrons navigate digital resources and devices
- Balance patrons' needs and respond to issues confidently and professionally in a busy public space
Requirements
- Masters degree in information or library science from an accredited program
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles of intellectual freedom, inclusiveness, and service excellence
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- Proven ability to provide leadership and responsible oversight of services, spaces, and resources
- Demonstrated competence with current library technologies and assisting patrons with accessing and navigating the digital environment
- Experience with teamwork and projects, ability to take initiative, ask for assistance, and take direction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Positivity and enthusiasm to serve members of the public from all walks of life
- Comfort level with uncertainty and curiosity to learn more
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or interest in making connections with community groups and representing the organization in the community
- Experience or interest in program areas such as Community Dialogue, Civic Engagement, Skill Building, and Community Learning
