About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Addiction Counsellor to join our team at Alouette Addictions Services Society. As an Addiction Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with healthcare professionals to evaluate treatment plans and develop effective strategies for patient care.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and patient outcomes, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal results.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' needs, identifying areas for improvement and developing personalized treatment plans.
  • Provide education and support to clients on health promotion, injury prevention, and management.
  • Deliver therapy sessions, either individually or in groups, to help clients achieve personal, social, and vocational development.
  • Implement treatment plans, monitoring progress and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records and reporting on client progress.
  • Analyze patient data to identify trends and areas for improvement, applying psychological theory and principles to inform treatment decisions.
  • Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to support clients in achieving their goals.
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients, colleagues, and community agencies, providing referrals and support as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices, applying this knowledge to enhance client care and services.
Requirements
  • Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification
  • Mental health first aid Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Windows, MS Word
  • Behaviour modification or behavioural therapy, Client-centered or humanistic/experiential therapy, Cognitive therapy, Crisis intervention counselling, Psychotherapy, Brief therapy
  • Criminal record check, Driver's validity licence check

Working Conditions

This is a temporary position, with a variable schedule of 22.5 to 37.5 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree and 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in the field.
