Scope of Work/Position Overview:
Big Brothers Big Sisters Sault Ste. Marie is recognized for its commitment to providing exceptional mentoring services for children and adolescents in the community. The Community Engagement Coordinator will undertake responsibilities associated with our agency's programs, adhering to the National Standards of service delivery mandated by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Youth Support Case Manager will oversee the matching and monitoring of mentors and mentees within our community-based mentoring initiative. The ideal candidate will also be tasked with designing and implementing group-oriented programs and activities for individuals awaiting placement.

Key Responsibilities:
Case Management

Evaluate and process applications from prospective volunteers, parents/caregivers, and referral organizations. Facilitate the onboarding process, which includes pre-screening, interviews, and orientation. Manage all necessary documentation and conduct Vulnerable Sector checks. Provide essential Safety and Pre-Match Training. Maintain comprehensive case notes to ensure compliance. Address any concerns or communications involving mentors and mentees. Maintain regular communication with parents/caregivers and agencies throughout the mentorship. Keep all stakeholders informed about agency events and initiatives. Ensure confidentiality as outlined in the agency's Privacy and Confidentiality Policy. Conduct match closures in line with National Standards. Complete mandatory match check-ins and updates as part of the Match Support Framework.

Program Coordination

Ensure compliance with program and agency standards, following National guidelines. Assist in delivering community programs that support children and youth. Screen and onboard new volunteers and participants for group-based initiatives. Attend meetings with the Program Manager and provide reports and statistics as required. Maintain accurate records, case notes, and compliant case files. Uphold confidentiality as per the agency's Privacy and Confidentiality Policy. Execute administrative tasks necessary for events and activities. Plan, coordinate, and implement 1-2 major agency-wide events annually. Collaborate with other community organizations to enhance initiatives and engage volunteers and families. Organize and facilitate activities and programs for children and youth, as well as the broader community. Support agency marketing efforts and promote mentorship initiatives. Oversee the Big Bunch Program and assist in the development of new programs and activities. Document statistics for events and activities, maintaining compliant case files.

Qualifications/Experience:

College Diploma or University Degree in Education, Social or Human Services fields, such as Child & Youth Work, Social Service Work, or Early Childhood Education is preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office 365. Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently. Familiarity with volunteer resources and understanding of the non-profit sector. Ability to engage with individuals of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds. Commitment to promoting the health and well-being of children and youth in the community.

Requirements:

Valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a vehicle. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary. Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.

Schedule:

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hours subject to operational needs.
