About Alexandra Marine and General Hospital (AMGH):

AMGH is a fully accredited healthcare institution situated in a picturesque community, recognized as the primary provider of acute care hospital services in the region.

With a substantial annual budget, AMGH delivers a variety of services including round-the-clock emergency care, intensive care, obstetrics, general surgery, inpatient adult psychiatry, and multi-site community mental health services.

The organization also offers a wide array of specialty and regional healthcare services, such as a renal dialysis satellite and a telestroke site.

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Vice President of Finance is tasked with fulfilling the financial goals that align with the mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives of the healthcare system.

The CFO is responsible for leading all facets of financial planning and analysis, financial modeling, strategic financial initiatives, organizational performance metrics, and capital budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage all financial strategies and plans.
  • Oversee business policies and accounting practices.
  • Monitor and report on organizational performance metrics.
  • Provide comprehensive financial oversight and monitoring.
  • Ensure pertinent financial data is communicated to the CEO and senior management.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop a strategic five-year plan and implement new processes to achieve organizational goals.
  • Work alongside the Senior Leadership Team to align operational strategies with hospital objectives.
  • Establish a system for tracking and reporting the progress of strategic plan implementation.
  • Manage risk and legal activities, including contracts and agreements.
  • Oversee procurement, monitoring, and management.
  • Ensure the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of information systems and infrastructure.
Organizational Reporting and Monitoring:

Provide guidance and leadership through management metrics and reporting processes.

Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.

Qualifications:
  • University degree in Business/Commerce; an MBA is an asset.
  • Approximately 10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, capital planning, and data analysis.
  • Strong operational experience, ideally with over 10 years in senior management within a healthcare organization.
  • Proven track record in financial planning and analysis, including oversight of human resources, information technology, and legal matters.
  • Skills in organizational development, personnel management, budget/resource development, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to travel between multiple sites as required.
  • Availability for Administration on Call rotation.
