About the Role:

As a vital member of the Maple Leaf Foods Quality Assurance team, the Quality Assurance Specialist is tasked with overseeing and evaluating data pertaining to all Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and other Quality Assurance Program standards to ensure compliance and excellence. This role emphasizes the importance of pre-operational inspections and environmental monitoring initiatives.

The Specialist will engage in a dynamic food production environment, where they will analyze substantial datasets and provide insightful recommendations to the FSQA leadership team based on their findings. Collaboration with the Sanitation Manager will also be a key aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the pre-operational inspection protocols.
  • Manage the execution of the environmental monitoring program.
  • Prepare necessary labels and conduct swabbing as required.
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in relevant systems.
  • Conduct training sessions on Critical Control Points (CCP) and other food safety topics.
  • Participate in annual HACCP evaluations and updates with cross-functional teams.
  • Engage in prerequisite monitoring and inspections as per specific requirements.
  • Contribute to meetings and projects as needed.
  • Provide support to the FSQA team as required.
  • Maintain training presentations and documentation.
  • Investigate and respond to customer and consumer feedback.
  • Coordinate FSQA documentation management.
  • Facilitate FSQA training sessions.
  • Order necessary supplies for FSQA operations.
  • Assist with planning and executing environmental monitoring activities.
  • Support equipment calibration processes.
  • Ensure proper implementation of the Hold and Release program.
  • Act as the primary administrator for document management systems.
Qualifications:
  • A degree or diploma in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a technical capacity within a food manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and offer actionable recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Understanding of HACCP principles and certification.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
