About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our Ubuntu Desktop Engineering team. As a key member of our engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the technical strategy for our desktop platform, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical vision and direction for the Ubuntu Desktop Engineering team, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Architecture and Design: Lead the development of the technical architecture and design for our desktop platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Engineering Management: Manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, marketing, and sales, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth and innovation, staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of Linux graphics technology, system architecture, and security capabilities.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading engineering teams, with experience in software engineering management and leadership.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken English, with outstanding presentation skills.
  • Operational Experience: Deep operational experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), with knowledge of software development methodologies and agile practices.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners.
