About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Tile Setter to join our team at GRW Contracting Ltd. As a Tile Setter, you will be responsible for installing ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tiles in various settings, including residential and commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare, measure, and mark surfaces to be covered with tiles.
  • Mortar Application: Mix, apply, and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue, or other adhesives using hand trowels.
  • Tile Installation: Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to the base.
  • Tile Alignment: Align and straighten tiles to ensure a professional finish.
  • Tile Cutting: Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools.
  • Grouting: Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout.
  • Tile Repair: Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles.
  • Mosaic Tile Installation: Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs.
  • Tile Strip Installation: Install tile strips.
Requirements
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5 years or more of experience in the tile setting trade.
  • Certifications: Tilesetter Trade Certification, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • Physical Demands: Physically demanding, handling heavy loads, bending, crouching, kneeling, and ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, dependable, excellent oral communication, judgment, reliability, team player, and hardworking.
