Responsibilities Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor of Terminals & Pipelines, the successful candidate will oversee the comprehensive recording, reporting, and analysis of business unit results, ensuring the accurate and efficient completion of monthly accounting records. This includes journal entries, invoicing, results reports, and account reconciliations, as well as investigating and documenting variances between actual and forecasted results. A strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of accounting standards relevant to the oil and gas sector are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile, analyze, reconcile, and distribute the monthly operating results package.
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries based on monthly, quarterly, and annual requirements.
  • Validate and prepare the annual budget and monthly forecasts for the business unit.
  • Develop and maintain accounting models to enhance accounting processes and support automation of manual tasks.
  • Collaborate with other business units and functions to ensure the reliability of financial results.
  • Evaluate and communicate financial results and operational data analysis.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with audit inquiries from external and internal auditors.
  • Participate in the testing and implementation of new system releases.
  • Prepare and maintain current desk training manuals.
  • Handle ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent degree.
  • CPA designation or pursuit thereof is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the crude oil industry is advantageous.
  • Experience with relational database systems and proficiency in Windows-based applications including Excel, Word, and database software.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
  • A process improvement mindset with the ability to implement changes effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with individuals within the company across various locations.
