Job Purpose:

The Senior Financial Accountant will primarily concentrate on Asset Accounting, Insurance, and Prepaids for all company operations in the USA and Canada, while also supporting the Finance Accounting team based in our Vernon office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile and analyze prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, investments, and capital assets.
  • Oversee and manage activities related to company assets.
  • Process acquisitions, disposals, and lease buyouts transactions within the accounting system.
  • Maintain precise and comprehensive listings of owned and leased assets for internal reference.
  • Monitor and assist in the maintenance of insurance and property taxes.
  • Provide necessary information for insurance and investment purposes.
  • Engage with insurance and lease companies regarding any modifications and issues.
  • Prepare accurate monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial records for compliance, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Compile month-end, quarter-end, and year-end working papers.
  • Support budget and forecasting activities.
  • Conduct Ad Hoc analysis as required.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with effective decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Dynamics AX.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to work with others.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to serve both internal and external clients, providing information in a timely and clear manner.
