About the Role

At Robinhood, our products are built on a robust infrastructure that enables real-time, inter-service communication. As a key member of our Service Discovery and Communication team, you will play a crucial role in building and deploying the fundamental systems that power our microservices.

We are a team of skilled engineers who work with Go, Python, and C++ to build scalable, robust, and reliable systems. Our technology stack includes Envoy for load balancing, Unbound and CoreDNS for DNS, and gRPC for inter-service communication. We also utilize Kubernetes, AWS, and service mesh technologies like Istio to ensure seamless communication between our microservices.

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our backend services. As a key contributor, you will design and implement large-scale, distributed systems that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement large-scale, distributed systems that meet the needs of our business.
  • Proactively identify and drive optimizations and improvements to our infrastructure and systems.
  • Contribute to critical projects on our roadmap and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in open-source projects and contribute to the growth of our engineering community.
Requirements
  • Proven experience building services and systems within an organization that deals with significant scale.
  • Experience working with infrastructure critical systems like Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Bonus points if you have experience with Istio or similar service mesh technologies and are interested in gaining more hands-on experience in managing microservices traffic, security, and observability.
