Job Summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking an exceptional Senior Litigation Lawyer to join our Family and Surrogate Court Litigation Team (FASCL). As a key member of our team, you will provide legal services and advice to various government departments, including Children's Services, Community and Social Services, and the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the government in the Provincial Court of Justice on child protection applications and run trials under the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Act.
  • Appeal child protection matters in the Court of King's Bench and provide legal advice on family law-related matters.
  • Effectively manage a busy litigation caseload and provide client-focused written and verbal legal advice.
  • Conduct legal research and draft clear, concise, and accurate legal opinions.

Requirements

  • Exceptional legal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and research skills.
