Role Overview:

The Funds & Asset Management division is seeking a Credit Analyst, Senior Analyst, or Associate Director to be based in our Toronto office.

This division focuses on analyzing and publishing insights on various financial instruments, including private equity fund financing, securitizations, leveraged closed-end funds (CEFs), money market funds (MMFs), bond funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), local government investment pools (LGIPs), and asset management firms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate quantitative and qualitative elements that impact the creditworthiness of funds and structured transactions, including portfolio assessments.
  • Conduct on-site due diligence meetings with fund managers.
  • Innovate methodologies for rating funds and structures in response to market needs.
  • Produce research on significant trends affecting the sectors under review.
  • Examine legal documentation related to transactions, such as indentures and prospectuses.
  • Create financial models and maintain databases.
  • Present rating proposals to committees.
  • Guide and develop team members within the group.
  • Engage in industry events and network with investors, bankers, fund managers, and other market participants.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in finance, with a background in funds or structured finance transactions preferred; the position level will align with the candidate's experience.
  • A strong academic background, ideally with a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, statistics, accounting, or computer science.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in fund finance, including subscription or NAV facilities.
  • Familiarity with SQL, VBA, or other programming languages.
  • A proven record of initiative and accomplishments.
