Naval Warfare Officer Career Overview

As a Naval Warfare Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, you will play a critical role in commanding and directing maritime military operations. This challenging and rewarding career path requires strong leadership, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent)
  • Have completed at least Grade 12 or Secondaire V in Quebec
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree or be working towards one
Training and Development

As a Naval Warfare Officer, you will undergo rigorous training and development to prepare you for this challenging role. This includes:

  • Basic Military Officer Qualification
  • Naval Warfare Officer Training
  • Specialty Training in areas such as ship navigation, above or underwater weapons direction, and management of information and communication systems
Work Environment

As a Naval Warfare Officer, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of environments, including at sea and ashore. You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team, working together to achieve mission objectives.

Whether you are working on a ship, submarine, or in an office environment, you will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. You will also have the opportunity to specialize in a particular area of naval warfare, such as ship navigation or submarine operations.
