Process Engineering Specialist

The Process Engineering Specialist role is essential for defining the operational procedures for the manufacturing and assembly of products. This involves analyzing component drawings, specifications, and various engineering documentation. The position is primarily focused on orchestrating, scheduling, and overseeing significant engineering projects while also developing operational sequences, estimating time requirements for each task, and preparing detailed operation sheets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with production planning teams to establish shop priorities and ensure the availability of necessary tools and documentation within the facility.
  • Participate in Advanced Quality Planning meetings to finalize the design of essential fixtures and tooling.
  • Engage with suppliers of raw materials and tools to define engineering specifications for production initiation.
  • Analyze and resolve specific processing challenges for designated projects and components.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new projects, encompassing material and processing expenses, tooling, gauges, and any required capital investments.
  • Contribute to investigations aimed at enhancing productivity.
  • Conduct time studies to optimize processes.
  • Maintain continuous process control through quality troubleshooting and improvement initiatives.
  • Regularly review all processes and operator instructions for assigned clients to ensure precision and compliance with actual procedures.
  • Gather data and create statistics to illustrate equipment and system performance.
  • Estimate timelines for development, fabrication, construction, and repair activities.
  • Determine appropriate materials and equipment for projects and select relevant codes.
  • Complete work order and change order forms to inform key stakeholders about project statuses.
  • Assume project management responsibilities to coordinate the involvement of other engineers, contractors, technicians, and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with machine processes, cutting tools, fixtures, CNC, and specialized machinery.
  • Proficient understanding of ISO-TS16949 and ISO 14001 standards, along with mechanical blueprint interpretation including GD and T.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and computer-aided design, manufacturing, and machining tools (e.g., AutoCAD, CAD/CAM, and SolidWorks).
