**Job Summary**

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Simon Fraser University is seeking an experienced and skilled Program Director Secretary to provide administrative support to the Chair and Director. This is a key role that requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Chair and Director, including scheduling appointments, preparing correspondence, and maintaining records.
  • Coordinate events and logistics, including conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Recruit and support faculty and instructors, including processing contracts and maintaining records.
  • Manage departmental budgets and finances, including processing invoices and reconciliations.
  • Provide general administrative support to the department, including answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining the departmental website.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation and one-year post-secondary education with courses or formal training in word processing, spreadsheet, database, web updating applications, office procedures, and secretarial practices.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably in a university or academic setting.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
