Job Title: Banquet Captain

Grow your career at one of the most unique sites in Calgary. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo's catering department is seeking a skilled Banquet Captain to support our front-of-house team.

About the Role:
  • Manage the expectation of guests from arrival to event completion.
  • Handle food and beverage stock for catered functions in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Setup furniture, equipment, and décor for events as per event contracts.
  • Deliver food and beverage according to organizational standards.
  • Coordinate or direct hourly catering staff for event delivery.
  • Complete catering logs in detail related to events and delivery.
  • Provide accurate information regarding consumables for invoicing and guest counts.
  • Assist in ensuring all policies and procedures are followed by catering staff.
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years' experience in food and beverage.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • ProServe Certification required.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality.
  • Independent worker.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Frequent walking and standing for long periods.
  • May be exposed to hazardous cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Shift work required.
  • Late evenings, weekends, holidays.
