Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the operational capabilities of BD Diesel by delivering high-quality HR services to our workforce. This position collaborates with various departments to support strategic initiatives and address challenges, facilitating the company's growth across North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete recruitment cycle, including crafting job advertisements, conducting candidate screenings, interviews, reference checks, and selecting suitable applicants to fulfill organizational requirements.
- Facilitate the onboarding experience for new employees, ensuring a seamless integration into the company culture.
- Administer and update the Human Resource Information System (ADP WorkforceNow), ensuring precise and current employee records in coordination with the payroll team.
- Address employee inquiries and concerns, promoting a positive workplace atmosphere and ensuring employee engagement.
- Prepare employment contracts for candidates, ensuring adherence to legal and organizational standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment regulations, including labor laws and internal policies.
- Assess training requirements, develop training initiatives, and coordinate professional development programs for staff.
- Manage employee documentation, including policies, agreements, and other HR-related paperwork concerning employment status changes.
- Assist in the execution and oversight of health and safety initiatives to maintain a secure work environment. Participate in health and safety committees.
- Handle employee separations and conduct exit interviews, ensuring respectful offboarding and gathering feedback to enhance processes.
- Generate and review monthly HRIS reports to identify trends, escalating significant findings to management.
- Provide payroll processing support during absences, ensuring accurate and timely payroll management.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Environment
- Office and production facility setting.
- Personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, is mandatory in production areas.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources, demonstrating expertise in recruitment, employee relations, and policy implementation.
- CPHR designation (or in progress) or equivalent is required.
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, employment legislation, and industry best practices.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in HRIS management and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capable of handling confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Experience in managing competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Must possess legal authorization to work in Canada.
