ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are excited to present a remarkable opportunity for a Senior Assayer to become an integral part of our Mill team.

The Macassa Mine is recognized as a premier gold producer, with increasing grades at depth, serving as a pivotal valuation factor for Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. Situated in a region with robust infrastructure, the Macassa Mine has consistently demonstrated its status as one of the highest-grade gold mines globally. Since commencing operations in 2002, the mine has significantly enhanced its production levels, particularly following the discovery of the South Mine Complex. The Macassa Mill, which is in close proximity to the mine, processes high-grade ore and currently has available capacity.

The Laboratory plays a crucial role in processing Mine Production and Exploration samples for grade control, delivering essential information promptly to support key decision-making related to mining and geology activities, as well as reconciling samples entering and exiting the Mill Process. Personal accountability is a key aspect of this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate competency in Basic Mill Common Core & adhere to Mill Classification Guidelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of sample receipt and analysis, including standards and reference materials.
  • Weigh, measure, document, and mix samples accurately.
  • Organize the workspace to ensure proper processing of samples from the mine, following established chain of custody procedures.
  • Crush and pulverize ore samples to the required consistency (-10 mesh) as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance (QA) standards are met.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas to promote a safe and organized working environment.

Prioritize tasks effectively while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and maintaining safety protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Willingness and capacity to learn.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required for competency.
  • On-the-job training will be provided, necessitating consistent commitment.
  • Aptitude for prioritizing repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency.
