Position Overview
The Fabrication Operations Supervisor will oversee the daily activities of the fabrication team, ensuring efficiency and adherence to safety protocols. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to manage workflow and maintain high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise team members, ensuring punctuality and readiness for work at the beginning of each shift.
- Conduct daily briefings to assign tasks and clarify objectives for the day.
- Ensure that all personnel have the necessary materials and tools to perform their duties effectively.
- Develop strategies with team members to meet production deadlines.
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations and ensure that all workers are equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain high standards of quality control throughout the fabrication process.
- Address and resolve operational challenges while proposing enhancements to boost productivity and quality.
- Enforce adherence to company policies and procedures among team members.
- Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages of materials and supplies.
- Keep technical documentation updated and accurately reflect any modifications.
- Complete necessary documentation and maintain precise records.
- Set achievable goals and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Exhibit strong leadership and team-building capabilities to motivate and guide the team.
- Read and interpret blueprints and operate machinery to produce required components.
- Utilize metalworking equipment such as brakes, shears, saws, and punches.
- Organize and maintain a clean workspace, ensuring the department is tidy at the end of each shift.
- Seek training on new equipment as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Adhere to all safety standards and regulations as outlined by the company and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field is advantageous.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory role within production, construction, or fabrication.
- Experience in fabrication is preferred.
- Familiarity with rigging, fall protection, forklifts, and scissor lifts is beneficial.
- Comprehensive understanding of operations, warehouse, and logistics management.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and inventory management.
- Awareness of local and federal regulations, including occupational health and safety standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Customer service-oriented mindset.
- Experience in metalworking or forming is a plus.
- First Aid certification is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with safe manufacturing practices from raw materials to finished products.
Work Environment
- Work is conducted in a commercial/industrial setting.
- Manual dexterity is required for the use of tools.
- Awareness of potential hazards in the work environment is essential.
- Compliance with safety policies, including the use of protective equipment, is mandatory.
Communication
- Interactions are primarily with the assigned work team and management personnel.
