Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Maintenance Support Associate (Mechanic Helper). This role collaborates with the Maintenance Team to ensure that vehicles are properly prepared and relocated within the facility. The Maintenance Support Associate plays a crucial role in organizing the workshop and ensuring that vehicles are clean and ready for customer service. This position offers a valuable opportunity to kickstart your career, with potential advancement into Lube Technician roles and the Heavy Duty Apprentice Mechanic training program. Ryder is committed to supporting high achievers in fulfilling the academic and practical requirements to become a Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic.

Compensation: $18 per hour

Employment Type: Full-time Permanent

Shift Schedule: Possible shifts include Sunday to Thursday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or Afternoon shifts from 3:00 pm to 12:00 am, Monday to Friday (to be confirmed post-interview).

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and wash vehicles.
  • Refuel vehicles.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the yard and workshop.
  • Move heavy-duty vehicles as needed.
  • Check and maintain tire pressure.
  • Conduct multi-point inspections on incoming units as per company policies.
  • Report any service issues to the shop.
  • Record fuel usage and manage fuel and DEF inventories.
  • Maintain the fuel island area to Six Sigma standards.
  • Assist with facility maintenance tasks.
  • Perform minor maintenance duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Carry out additional tasks as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Canadian Driver's license (minimum Class G2).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal instructions from customers.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware and software, particularly word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Ability to read and interpret codes and instructions on the computer.
  • Basic computer skills and data entry capabilities.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Highly reliable and detail-oriented.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships at all organizational levels.
