Your Role as a Trades Instructor

Reporting to the Academic Chair of Transportation Trades within the School of Trades, your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Developing engaging instructional materials and resources
  • Cultivating a positive and productive learning environment for students
  • Delivering instruction and evaluating student progress
  • Building strong relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders
  • Contributing to the overall success of the Trades program
Areas of Expertise

Specific instructional areas may include, but are not limited to:

  • Automotive Service Technician
  • Bricklaying
  • Carpentry
  • Electrician
  • Industrial Mechanic
  • Machinist
  • Plumbing
  • Skilled Trade Techniques
  • Truck and Transport
  • Welding

You will be encouraged to integrate technology and active learning strategies into your teaching practices.

Your Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with a valid Red Seal license and relevant work experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build strong relationships across the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and a creative mindset
  • Self-motivation, a results-oriented approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A genuine desire for continuous learning and professional development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in a post-secondary setting
