Position Overview: Senior Risk Control Advisor

As a Senior Risk Control Advisor, you will oversee all initiatives related to fire safety, risk engineering, and risk management.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations at client sites (property, liability, product, vehicle fleet);
  • Generate comprehensive risk reports (underwriting documents for the insurance sector, risk evaluations, recommendation reports, etc.);
  • Execute damage estimation calculations (PML, MFL, NLE, etc.);
  • Assist brokers during the placement process by providing insights on risk exposures and insurer requirements;
  • Advise clients on risk exposure and mitigation strategies;
  • Develop and implement risk control programs for key clients;
  • Analyze and prioritize recommendations from insurers;
  • Support research and development initiatives on technical matters;
  • Contribute to building valuation assessments;
  • Review and assist clients in designing mechanical projects related to fire safety;
  • Evaluate plans and hydraulic calculations according to applicable standards;
  • Provide expertise in fire protection and generate reports;
  • Enhance risk evaluation and control practices by preparing underwriting reports, conducting risk assessments, and advising clients on risk exposure and control measures.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, fire protection, applied sciences, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in risk management with a broker, insurer, or within a large organization.
  • Proficiency in site inspections, risk management, and/or fire safety.
  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety principles.
  • Familiarity with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and FM (Factory Mutual) standards;
  • Knowledge of building construction, related codes, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculation software (HydraCalc or similar);
  • Membership in the OIQ (Quebec Order of Engineers);
  • Bilingual with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
