Job Title: Structural Designer

Morrison Hershfield, now part of Stantec, is a leading infrastructure consulting firm that delivers innovative solutions to support economic growth and social prosperity.

We are seeking a skilled Structural Designer to join our team in the Horizontal Infrastructure Business Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing transportation structures, including bridges, roads, and highways.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare plans, designs, calculations, and analysis in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, and other specifications.
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of engineering technical reports, specifications, quantity takeoff, and cost estimates, drawings, or schedules as assigned.
  • Perform structural analysis and evaluation using various software.
  • Interpret and analyze field inspection data to evaluate and make recommendations on technical problem solutions.
  • Conduct bridge and structural inspection work by performing non-destructive testing, recording/measuring bridge dimension types (according to standards), and saw cut and concrete core sampling.
  • Assist in site work such as traffic control and flagging.
  • Prepare contract documents, tender evaluations, and/or construction liaison and support services.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural engineering with a strong interest in structures, particularly bridges.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the consulting industry working with transportation structures.
  • Interest in working both in the office and out in the field.
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical duties including bridge inspection work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with CAD, SAP2000, CSiBridge, and MIDAS.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
