This role involves skilled technical work in managing the City's multimedia computer infrastructure. Under the general supervision of a manager, the incumbent will engage in the ongoing procurement, configuration, deployment, support, and maintenance of multimedia systems, including audio-visual equipment, video conferencing tools, digital signage solutions, and municipal meeting management software. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Monitoring and assessing system and infrastructure performance to implement enhancements for increased efficiency.
  2. Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to multimedia infrastructure hardware, software, and operating systems that impact audio and video quality.
  3. Collaborating with vendor representatives and various business units.
  4. Proposing improvements and optimizations for multimedia equipment as necessary.
  5. Researching, evaluating, and recommending multimedia hardware and software purchases.
  6. Overseeing the installation of multimedia hardware and software.
  7. Documenting requirements and delivering both verbal and written presentations on technological matters, proposals, and projects to internal stakeholders.
  8. Offering guidance, support, and training to users and departmental staff on technical issues, including assistance to Mayor and Council during live public meetings.

Required qualifications include a diploma in computer systems technologies from an accredited institution, with specific coursework in communications and network systems, along with significant relevant experience in infrastructure management (specifically multimedia), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong understanding of storage solutions and local and wide area infrastructure, including multimedia, AV, and meeting room technologies, is essential. The ability to identify and resolve multimedia hardware and software issues is crucial, as is the capacity to evaluate multimedia application software and provide recommendations for standard configurations. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary for preparing and delivering technical presentations. The candidate must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of staff and external contacts. A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.

Work Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday & Thursday from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Tuesday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Wednesday & Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
