Role Summary:
The Ecommerce Search Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in examining data associated with online retail and search functionalities, aiming to enhance the discoverability experience for users and stakeholders. Reporting to the Search Product team, this position entails the analysis of extensive data sets to generate insights that support critical business goals, informed decision-making, problem resolution, statistical evaluations, opportunity recognition, and prioritization.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Product, Merchandising, and other departments to deliver insights that align with overarching business objectives. Key responsibilities encompass in-depth analysis of substantial data sets, addressing discoverability challenges, proactively identifying opportunities, responding to stakeholder inquiries, and evaluating the significance and impact of various issues. The individual will also partner with other teams to implement solutions and assess their effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis:
Investigate and analyze customer discoverability data to evaluate search performance and user interactions with search functionalities. - Proactively identify opportunities and challenges while monitoring evolving customer behavior data trends.
- Transform large data sets into actionable business insights utilizing SQL and similar analytical tools for informed decision-making.
- Conduct thorough analyses of extensive data sets, including product information, facet data, and related business metrics to assess current effectiveness and potential opportunities.
- Proactively explore and analyze customer behavior, feedback, and usage data to pinpoint actionable items.
- Reporting:
Develop and disseminate reports on search performance, highlighting significant insights and unexpected data trends. - Collaborate with teams such as Analytics and Data Science to create new reporting and analytical tools as required.
- Team Collaboration:
Serve as an internal global resource for on-site search optimization for Product, Merchandising, and related teams. - Assist non-search stakeholders in addressing business challenges related to discoverability.
- Support the Product team with analysis of search data to inform decision-making for projects and new features.
- Evaluate solutions to identified discoverability issues in collaboration with the broader Search team.
- Help business teams assess the significance and impact of identified discoverability challenges and opportunities.
- Evaluate the potential impact and risks associated with creating new tuning rules, such as synonyms and redirects.
- Collaborate with other teams to implement solutions beyond the Product workflow, such as product or data optimization that can enhance discoverability.
- Work effectively with the wider team.
- Project Management:
Document insights and new analytical processes as they are developed. - Assist with testing new solutions as necessary.
- Manage operational tasks with the aim of automating processes where feasible.
Work Environment:
This position offers flexibility for remote work, with occasional travel to the main office as needed.
