Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Job Summary:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive assessments and treatment to individuals with severe and chronic mental health concerns. This involves conducting psychosocial assessments, administering diagnostic tests and observations, developing individual treatment plans, and integrating treatment recommendations within a case planning model.

The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy intervention, consultation, and acts as a professional resource to a diverse team. They also serve as an external resource, providing consultation to other mental health and community service providers.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy preferred.
  • Registration as a member of the Ontario College of Occupational Therapists is mandatory.
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mental health setting.
Skills:
  • Ability to work with individuals with histories of substance abuse and mental illness, and other co-occurring disorders, to develop life roles, independence, and a balanced lifestyle through the establishment of therapeutic and supportive professional relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and knowledge of local resources are essential.
  • A valid driver's license to operate the required class of vehicle is necessary.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • French language skills are an asset.
Special Conditions:
  • Providing own transportation and traveling throughout the Niagara Region to other offices, work locations, or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons is required.
  • Supporting clients in their travel to locations in the community when relevant to their recovery plan, as per program policy, is necessary.
  • Undergoing a Criminal Records check, including vulnerable sector screening, and submitting a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate prior to commencing employment is mandatory.
  • Being available to work flexible hours, including weekend and/or evening hours as required, is necessary.
  • Vaccinations as recommended in Public Health policy are required.
