Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join our small and effective accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our residential rental properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and update policies and procedures for residential rental accounting cycle
- Support management in the organization of the tenant application and selection process
- Manage tenant files, including setting up new tenants, updating lease terms, and processing move-ins and move-outs
- Accurately record tenant and other deposits
- Manage receivables by sending out tenant statements and following up on outstanding balances
- Ensure tenant recoveries are accurately captured and charged back
- Record routine transactions, including bank charges and recurring journal entries
- Support the Controller with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Support the Controller with annual budgeting process
- Prepare various accounting reports and analysis as required
- Support property management staff with financial accounting matters
- Support reporting to external parties, including banks, MPAC, and CRA
- Provide guidance and leadership to accounts receivable/accounts payable staff
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in an accounting management role
- CPA designation considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Yardi products an asset, but not required
- Property management experience an asset
- Independent self-starter with a hands-on approach
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
