The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join the Nygaard Laboratory in the Department of Medicine. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Haakon Nygaard to develop and implement research studies related to the cellular processes associated with Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement research studies using 3D bioprinting of iPSC-derived tissues
- Lead grant applications in the field of neurosciences
- Maintain and advance a robust protocol for 3D bioprinting of iPSC-derived neurons, astrocytes, and microglia
- Collaborate with wet lab scientists to design and implement experiments
- Prepare manuscripts and oversee submission
- Mentor and teach graduate, undergraduate, and Co-op students
The successful candidate will have a PhD in neuroscience or a related field, and at least 2 years of post-doctoral training in hiPSC 3D extrusion-based bioprinting. Proven skills using hiPSCs to study the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative or other CNS disorders are essential. Strong analysis skills, ability to work professionally with colleagues, and compliance with approved procedures and ethics regulations are also required.
Working EnvironmentThe successful candidate will work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment at the University of British Columbia. The position requires a strong research background in neuroscience and neuroscience techniques, including iPSCs generation, differentiation, and maintenance, tissue culture, and confocal imaging.
