Master - Harbour/Coastal Tug OperationsWe are seeking a highly experienced and qualified Master to join our marine fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operation of our harbour and coastal tug vessels.
Responsibilities:- Implement Atlantic Towing Limited's policies and management system requirements onboard, ensuring crew adherence to safety and environmental protection protocols.
- Provide clear and concise orders to the crew, overseeing navigation and daily shipboard operations in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and company procedures.
- Ensure a planned maintenance program is executed effectively, maintaining the vessel and its equipment in optimal condition according to legal requirements, industry practices, and Atlantic Towing Limited's specifications.
- Monitor the vessel's certification status, maintaining an up-to-date file of all relevant certificates.
- Report accidents, incidents, hazardous situations, and nonconformities promptly.
- Manage personnel-related procedures, including crew sign-on, maintenance of Articles of Agreement, verification of crew competency, training, and medical fitness documentation. Conduct performance appraisals, identify training needs, and provide onboard training.
- Prepare and submit management and performance reports, Change of Command documents, QHSE Reviews/Verifications, and other required documentation to the office at specified intervals.
- Implement the Vessel Security Plan, including crew training, record maintenance, security equipment inspection and testing, and adherence to security procedures.
- Ensure all documents and records related to the QHSE System are maintained according to established procedures, readily identifiable, retrievable, and legible.
- Contribute to J.D. Irving, Limited's Safety culture by understanding and complying with various safety processes within the Safety Management System. Possess the skills to perform job-related tasks safely and apply safe practices during physical activities. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of precautions and procedures related to the Safety Management System.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of pollution regulations and J.D. Irving, Limited's objectives regarding environmental protection.
- Extensive experience as a Master on harbour and coastal tug vessels.
- Valid Master Mariner Certificate with appropriate endorsements.
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, safety procedures, and environmental protection protocols.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to teamwork and a safe working environment.
