About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Advisor or Insurance Regulatory Specialist to join our dynamic team at Intact Financial Corporation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide expert legal advice and guidance on a broad range of insurance regulatory matters, including the development and distribution of insurance products, market conduct requirements, federal and provincial licensing, and marketing law.
  2. Act as a key liaison between the legal and business teams, ensuring that legal considerations are taken into account in all business decisions.
  3. Analyze, draft, and negotiate various service and distribution contracts, ensuring that they are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.
  4. Ensure the integrity of the legal and regulatory aspects of the distribution of financial products and services offered by Intact Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries.
  5. Participate in national strategic projects, collaborating with the Manager or Vice President of Legal Affairs as needed.
Qualifications
  1. Member of the Barreau du Québec in good standing.
  2. 3 to 7 years of experience at a large law firm or large in-house department, in commercial, corporate, and/or insurance law, preferably in a regulated industry.
  3. Superior technical legal skills, with excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  4. Confidence in managing files independently with minimal support.
  5. Comfort with technology tools, including good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  6. Sound judgment and the ability to assess the practical implications of legal risks and think strategically.
  7. Ability to proactively propose innovative business solutions.
  8. Ability to build relationships with business units and stakeholders and influence decision making at the operational and corporate level.
  9. Team player with ability to collaborate exceptionally well with others.
  10. Ability to prioritize and manage many files and projects at once.
  11. For candidates located in Quebec, Bilingualism (French and English, both written and spoken) is required, considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
