About the Position

The Edmonton Convention Centre is seeking a part-time Custodial Supervisor to oversee the Building Services team. Reporting to the Manager of Building Services, the Custodial Supervisor will be responsible for the daily management of the custodial staff, ensuring that all operational and departmental requirements are met while upholding a standard of excellence. This role sets the benchmark for each shift, demonstrating efficient work practices without compromising quality. Compliance with the Edmonton Convention Centre Policies and Procedures, Building Services Standard Operating Procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety standards is essential.

The successful candidate will be tasked with:

  • Assisting the Manager of Building Services in preparing and assigning daily tasks.
  • Coaching team members on new responsibilities and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Monitoring the team to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Retrieving daily updates and event details from the online booking system.
  • Entering and tracking work orders for maintenance and equipment needs.
  • Training team members on cleaning methods and the use of new equipment.
  • Conducting shift briefings and safety meetings.
  • Performing inspections on a monthly, daily, and annual basis.
  • Assisting with inventory management.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the storage areas.
  • Ensuring adherence to WHMIS and safe work practices by the team.
  • Operating floor cleaning machinery.
  • Performing general cleaning tasks such as washroom maintenance, sweeping, mopping, and wall washing.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of custodial experience in an event or venue setting.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations is an asset.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to work varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights, in a fast-paced environment.
  • The capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • The ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
