Client Overview:

The client is recognized as Canada’s second-largest oil enterprise, engaged in the extraction of oil and gas, refining these resources into marketable products, and distributing them through various outlets. They play a significant role in the Canadian energy landscape.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. Conducts testing and repairs on electrical and instrumentation systems utilized in production equipment to guarantee adherence to established performance metrics and product quality. Evaluates electrical systems and instruments to formulate repair strategies. Documents and verifies issues and actions taken.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plans, updates, and supervises all activities within designated areas of responsibility in accordance with laws, regulations, standards, specifications, and procedures, with a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental considerations.

2. Promotes and fosters teamwork among operations, engineering, and project groups.

3. Provides insights and reviews electrical and control specifications and work practices.

4. Holds responsibility and accountability for electrical and control systems as outlined in the Work Management Manual.

5. Possesses the knowledge to apply and adhere to work permits through the Permit To Work System (PTWS) as described in the Work Management Manual.

6. Ensures the quality and timely execution of tasks scheduled by the Maintenance Program.

7. Develops personal and team technical competencies (e.g., new regulations, equipment, methodologies, etc.).

8. Participates in and leads technical meetings as necessary to keep instrument and electrical technicians updated on the latest specifications, codes, procedures, and technologies.

9. Establishes and maintains open communication regarding electrical and control issues (e.g., safe work practices, training, materials, etc.) with colleagues.

10. Supports work prioritization to enhance effectiveness and complement the efforts of other work groups.

11. Provides technical assistance to fellow technicians for maintenance and troubleshooting of the company’s electrical and instrumentation systems.

12. Capable of generating Management of Change requests (MOCs) related to electrical and control equipment and installations, and can follow up with installation inspections consistent with Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) Element 3.

13. Constructs, monitors, and inspects new installations for consistency with organizational objectives and recommends upgrades as necessary.

14. Acts as a substitute for the Instrument and Electrical Lead position when required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Associate's degree and relevant technical certifications are mandatory.

- Experience in maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation and controls in processing or offshore production facilities.

- General Technical Skills:

- Familiarity with regulations governing oil and gas facility operations.

- Knowledge of OIMS systems, related manuals, and procedures.

- Specific Technical Skills:

- Meets safety, administrative, and technical training prerequisites associated with this role as documented in the company’s operations-approved training roadmap.

- Possesses the general competencies and Operations Integrity Critical competency requirements as documented and maintained in the company’s Operations Training roadmap.

- Computing skills.

SCHEDULE:

5-month contract, 5 days a week, 40 hours.

PAY RANGE:

The compensation for this position ranges from $50-60 per hour; however, the actual pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided in accordance with applicable laws and is influenced by market location.
