About the Role:
The Seniors Mental Health program at Alberta Health Services provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services for individuals aged 65 and above with psychiatric illnesses, including dementia and mood and/or thought disorders.
The program aims to empower each patient to achieve their optimal level of functioning, enabling them to reintegrate into their community. Our specialty programming focuses on:
- Mood and Thought Disorder
- Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Enrichment
- Specialized Dementia Care
Our service emphasizes providing treatment and medication recommendations for seniors with complex presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Psychiatric Care Specialist, you will be an integral member of our multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting nurses with routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs
- Observing and reporting on patients' mood, health, and well-being
- Maintaining effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals
- Assisting in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
- Supporting the general operations of the work area
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Completion of Grade 12
- A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer
