Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist II to contribute to our innovative Calgary Rural Allied Health teams. This role encompasses a blend of responsibilities focusing on both adult and pediatric patient care, under the guidance of experienced Allied Health Managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify functional communication needs in both pediatric and adult populations.
- Provide direct intervention and consultation, utilizing evidence-based practices in speech-language therapy.
- Engage in capacity building and educational initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Manage adult dysphagia cases and implement suitable therapy techniques for pediatric clients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive rehabilitation services.
- Participate in quality improvement and program development activities within the healthcare framework.
Work Environment:
This position requires travel to various rural communities, facilitating integrated rehabilitation services across a broad spectrum of health services. The Speech Language Pathologist II will foster collaborative relationships within the healthcare team and contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
- Proven expertise in pediatric therapy and experience with adult dysphagia management.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound clinical judgment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in an acute care setting within the last two years.
- Ability to devise innovative solutions for complex clinical challenges.
- Familiarity with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods.
- Rural healthcare experience is advantageous.
