Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist II to contribute to our innovative Calgary Rural Allied Health teams. This role encompasses a blend of responsibilities focusing on both adult and pediatric patient care, under the guidance of experienced Allied Health Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify functional communication needs in both pediatric and adult populations.
  • Provide direct intervention and consultation, utilizing evidence-based practices in speech-language therapy.
  • Engage in capacity building and educational initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Manage adult dysphagia cases and implement suitable therapy techniques for pediatric clients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive rehabilitation services.
  • Participate in quality improvement and program development activities within the healthcare framework.

Work Environment:

This position requires travel to various rural communities, facilitating integrated rehabilitation services across a broad spectrum of health services. The Speech Language Pathologist II will foster collaborative relationships within the healthcare team and contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
  • Proven expertise in pediatric therapy and experience with adult dysphagia management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound clinical judgment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in an acute care setting within the last two years.
  • Ability to devise innovative solutions for complex clinical challenges.
  • Familiarity with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods.
  • Rural healthcare experience is advantageous.
